Five things to ask before you hire a web team

A short checklist that saves a lot of back-and-forth later on.

A presentation in a bright room

Most website projects go wrong in the first week, not the last. The fix is boring and quick: ask a few plain questions before anyone opens a design tool.

1. Who will update it?

If the answer is “we'll call you”, think about how often you'll want to change a price or a photo — and what each call will cost.

A site you can't edit is a brochure you can't reprint.

2. What happens if you stop working together?

You should own the words, the pictures and the address. Ask for that in writing. This article is sample text.
